How does smart technologies help individuals with Disabilities lives Independently?
Individuals with disabilities are archiving independence in their homes through Amazon’s Echo Dot. This allows wheelchair users to turn on lights by using a word command or control by using their cell phones. All you have to do is to buy some smart WI — FI which will pair up with Echo Dot. You can even control the temperature inside of your household. This technology on the door locks so a wheelchair user can control the locks on the doors. All this is made possible by Alexa which is a cloud-based voice assistant from by Amazon.
Since I am unable to speak due to my disability the Echo Dot can understand my Tobii. Tobii is an augmentative and Alternative communication that help me communicate with people. Being in control of your home will give individuals with disabilities sense of independence.
