John Rocker was a real life Kenny Powers!
HBO’S East Bound and Down character was based on Atlanta Braves' s John Rocker. Rocker was known for making controversial statements during his career toward the fans of opponent team. Rocker stated the thing he didn’t like about New York you can walk around time square and not hear any English. In series East Bound and Down Kenny Powers was also known making controversial statements toward the fans of opponent teams.
The idea of Kenny Powers came from Will Ferrell’s impersonation of John Rocker on Saturday Night Live. Then Will Ferrell produce East Bound and Down starring Danny McBride. This is a sport comedy about a baseball player player who got kicked out of MLB. Powers moved back to his hometown and became a physical education teacher.
